Springboard Programme: KickStart
Region: Greater London
Year: 2017
Sana knew that she wanted to pursue a career in Marketing after completing her Business Studies GCSE course at school, and she decided to continue working towards this goal, taking on a Business Studies A level at college. Her hard work paid off and allowed her to achieve a degree in Marketing from the University of Middlesex after completing her studies at college. Lack of experience meant that, frustratingly, Sana had great difficulty in finding work in her desired industry, and decided to take a role she was offered in Customer Service. Although she gained some useful skills & experience from the job, it wasn’t fulfilling or enjoyable for her; Sana’s passion was still to begin a career in Marketing. Sadly, Sana was forced to leave her job in order to become a full-time carer for her grandfather who had cancer, which had a huge impact on her mental health. She fell into a state of depression; feeling very little hope for her future.
After Sana’s mother spoke to a Springboard representative while working at the Job Centre, she put them in touch, and Sana was soon enrolled onto one of Springboard’s KickStart programmes. The programme taught her the basics of health & safety as well as providing her with useful qualifications in Food Hygiene amongst other areas, increasing her prospects of finding work. However, Sana sights were still set on finding a career in Marketing. Not long after Sana completed the programme, Springboard were able to help her to secure an interview for a Marketing Assistant role at The London Clinic, for which she was successful! Sana has now been working at The London Clinic full-time since September, and couldn’t be happier.
She credits her success to the hard work & support of the Springboard staff who listened to her, understood her ambitions & communicated consistently, never giving up.
