“I first heard about Springboard at the job centre. I went along to see what the course was all about; I enjoyed learning different skills that in turn helped me gain more confidence. During the programme we learned a lot about hospitality, we also attended Dakota Glasgow for an industry visit, this visit helped me understand the variety of roles available in the hospitality industry.
I completed a work experience day in the housekeeping department at Dakota Glasgow, I was lucky enough to be offered to join the team in the position of Room Attendant, and two years later I am still here. I have gained team building skills, improved my confidence and understand the need for brilliant time keeping. I take a lot of pride in my work- I like everything to be perfect, and attention to detail is very important to me. I have recently been promoted to a Room Attendant Self Checker, which I am so proud of myself for achieving.
I am currently completing Modern Apprenticeship in Hospitality Services (Housekeeping) at SCQF Level 5 and I look forward to developing my skills even further with Dakota.”
Kirsteen Gorman, Executive Assistant at Dakota Hotels, Glasgow said, “Lauren has grown and developed since starting at Dakota Glasgow, Lauren is always willing to help the team, assisting training new starters and sharing her knowledge. Lauren’s promotion to self-checker has given her confidence in her abilities and completing her Modern Apprenticeship shown her drive to further her knowledge within hospitality. Lauren has great opportunities ahead of her with Dakota Glasgow”
