“After spending several years working in a kitchen, I decided to shift gears in my career path and venture into bar work following a career break. Learning about Springboard and their support in training and career transitions intrigued me.
Initially, I hesitated about the course due to my age, fearing it might cater only to younger individuals. However, my Programme Manager reassured me that the course welcomed a diverse group of people, which eased my concerns. True to their word, I felt warmly welcomed on the first day of the course.
The course content exceeded my expectations in both depth and speed. We explored various businesses, engaged with industry experts, and delved into topics such as alcohol licensing, bar techniques, and events management. The three weeks flew by, and I found immense joy in participating and gaining valuable knowledge.
Upon completing the course, I was offered a bartender position at Punch Tarmey’s in Liverpool. Embarking on this new career chapter, I am eager to apply my newfound skills and embrace the opportunities ahead.
