“Springboard has been an amazing course to enroll in and overall a great opportunity to take part in. Before attending this course I felt lost and confused- I had been homeschooled during the pandemic and because of this unsure where to go find work or just to learn about hospitality in general. During the past few weeks it has been a great experience. We’ve explored quite a bit in Cardiff, in and out of different restaurants, food is provided, multiple job opportunities and most importantly the people have been lovely. I’ve never really looked forward to learning or enjoyed it but Springboard made that change for me.
After completing the course, I got an opportunity to do a week’s worth of work experience at the Clayton Hotel as a Food and Beverage Assistant. The atmosphere of the workplace and people were very positive, helpful, and welcoming! It was important for me to give it my all during the work experience and do the best I could as it contributed a bunch to me receiving a contract to work there afterwards. The job involved me being confident at interacting with my customers, making sure I’m in control of the situation, and that they were satisfied with my service. Another vital one is observing skills. It’s used so much of the time as you do what needs to be done rather than waiting to be told – initiative is key! Working efficiently s also very important. Just making sure everything is all in place and organised, ready to help you and others to have a smooth shift. I’m enjoying working at the Clayton and look forward to what the future holds!”
Jack has now been successfully working at the Clayton Hotel for 5 months now!
