David Jona’s journey has been anything but conventional. Growing up in Hungary, he didn’t thrive in mainstream education and left school without qualifications. He struggled to get into even entry level jobs with no qualifications or work experience.
At 21, David made the bold decision to move to London, driven by little more than hope. With no plan and no safety net, he began carving out a life for himself through determination and resilience. Over the next twelve years, David worked his way through the hospitality sector from fast food counters to fine dining restaurants. Along the way, he navigated language barriers, anxiety, and deep self-doubt. Despite earning a degree in International Tourism, his confidence still lacked.
By the time David joined a Springboard programme, he was feeling burnt out and unsure of his next step. “I didn’t expect much,” he admits. “Maybe a few tips, maybe a little motivation, but it gave me so much more.” Over the course of just three weeks, everything began to shift. Through practical training, teamwork, and expert support, David rediscovered his strengths and learned how to communicate with purpose. More importantly, he built the confidence he had been missing.
“This programme doesn’t just teach hospitality it transforms you,” he says. “It reminded me why I chose this path and gave me the tools to walk it with purpose.” Today, David sees a future filled with possibilities. He knows where he wants to go and, for the first time, believes he can get there.
