Springboard Programme: Barclays Destination Hospitality
Region: Scotland
Year: 2023
“I got to know about Springboard through the Job Centre. I had been doing agency work for 2 years, but this work was not reliable, I have a family so I need consistent weekly hours. However, it is true that it gets harder to get work after the age of 50.
When I enrolled for the training I did not know what it was all about, except that I was going to learn about hospitality. I had done some customer facing work in the past although not in hospitality and I really enjoy interacting with other people, so I felt keen to try hospitality.
Little did I know that I would come out of the course with a wealth of knowledge on Service that Sells, Licensing Scotland, Customer Service, Food Safety Level 2, First Aid Awareness, Health and Safety Level 2, Food Allergens, Disability Awareness, and many others, that will serve me and my other fellow attendants for many years to come.
Furthermore, I have never seen people work as hard as our Springboard trainers. They are the reason why most of us who attended the course managed to pass online modules and the written exams. We really appreciate their help.
And then there was the Transferable Skills module where Springboard taught us all about how to present these skills in an interview the better way. For me, most of the content was new and so impactful.
At the end of the course, we were then assigned to go and do real interviews with employers with the possibility of getting jobs and when I applied the skills I had just learnt I got the job!
I am so happy and will tell anyone looking for a job in hospitality to go try Springboard training to get equipped for such jobs first.
Thank you Springboard!”
