Galvin’s Chance is an into-work programme for young people. The programme leads to pre-employment hospitality training, a work placement and sustainable employment. Galvin’s Chance seeks to help those at risk of crime and offer them a real alternative and to support young people who face various barriers to employment.
Initiated by Chris Galvin, Chef Patron and Fred Sirieix, in 2009, the programme targets people aged 18-24 who are not in education or employment. Galvin’s Chance offers them training and opportunities for a front of house career in some of the most prestigious hotels, restaurants and food service management organisations in London. This is the beginning of their involvement in a life changing programme that will ultimately provide them with the confidence, aspiration and opportunity for a career in the hospitality industry. Springboard, along with the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, are the delivery partner for Galvin’s Chance, providing mentoring, work experience opportunities, skills training, potential employment and the opportunity to earn recognised qualifications in hospitality.
The programme is designed to give all of the young people on the programme the skills, support and opportunities to start a career in the hospitality industry; to change and improve their lives for the better and to inspire those around them.
