Departure Day: Trekkers leave Heathrow for #LittleTibet15
In the evening of 10th March 2015, 32 hospitality professionals arrived at Heathrow in an excited state and settled down for a momentary photo before disappearing through to departures, hours away from the adventure of a lifetime. They are tasked with raising £100,000 for The Springboard Charity to help young, disadvantaged and unemployed people secure sustainable employment within their industry.
Springboard is an organisation close to hospitality’s heart and one that serves a wider good within the UK, alleviating youth unemployment and supporting people into work, helping them overcome the multiple barriers they face.
To improve the lives of people in the UK, the trekkers will undertake a gruelling expedition in northernmost India before completing a community project in a poverty stricken school in the mountains, rebuilding and refurbishing classrooms and supplying teaching materials to enhance the lives of local children through education.
2014’s trek to Nepal raised a record £140,000 and supporters this year are keen to beat that. 100% of all donations go straight to The Springboard Charity and help young, disadvantaged and unemployed people change their lives for the better.
