Apologies for the late posting of last week’s blog. We were out most of last week at the Hospitality Show running the student centre which meant a lot of early starts for us!
But here goes a two week wrap up of my food, fundraising and fitness progress… Sorry if it’s a long one!
W/C 12TH January: Myself Ellen and Anne started the week with a mat class with the ladies from A Balanced Life. Our instructor Becki was as expected, amazing, thanks for the photo Becki!
She also mentioned us in her blog, have a read of that here. Tuesday I popped along to the Bridge for a quick session and on Wednesday the #SBRunningClub was reformed with a new member, our Events Co-ordinator Zoe. A brisk 5k to warm us up, it was freezing! Another gym session on Thursday and then to round the week off I did a circuits class in Birmingham at Harborne Fitness centre with some great training advice from Pete the instructor.
W/C: 19TH January: Unfortunately for the first three days this week I wasn’t able to do much, but Sophie (Youth Programmes Manager for the Midlands) and I made sure we did a few calf raises on our stand at the Hospitality Show; we may have looked a little strange… However I made up for it the rest of the week with two gym sessions at The Bridge on the Thursday and Friday.
On Saturday I made my way over to West Dulwich to take part in a Body Blast class with South London Fitness. These guys are HARDCORE, my class lasted nearly two hours. Safe to say I was pretty shattered yesterday so I just took a nice long walk around Brockwell Park after easing my painful muscles with a short Yoga stretch workout by Fitness Blender.
Oh it’s been a good one. Notable mentions and recommendations for a few places this week… Brasserie Zedel for a pre-theatre (Jersey Boys with my parents – xmas present) Friday night dinner. Baltic near Southwalk tube station for mid-week. York’s Bakery for brunch. And finally two great lunch places: Detox Kitchen pop up in Harvey Nichols and Albion bankside. Oh and The Florence for a roast.
Looking at that lot it’s a good job I did some exercise! However when I did cook over the last couple of weeks I made some pretty health tasty treats that I’ve been practising on friends. A virgin pomegranate mojito, broccoli based pizza and chocolate avocado mousse. Links all there for you. I would definitely recommend the mousse!
Great news! I’ve got more shifts coming in as part of my ‘Shifts for charity’ where I’ll be going back to the floor. We have a pub quiz organised and my page is starting to pick up! It’s all heading in the right direction.
